# Chrome Extension Preview

> Capture a page or chart and attach it to your EdgeBook journal

## What the preview does

The EdgeBook Chrome extension captures the visible portion of the active tab, a selected area, or a PNG image from the clipboard. You can create a trade or attach the image to an existing trade without switching to the app first.

<Warning>
  This is a private preview, not a public Chrome Web Store release. Follow the [preview access instructions](/chrome-extension/installation) before installing it.
</Warning>

## Capture flow

<Steps>
  <Step title="Choose a page">
    Open the chart or page you want to capture. The extension does not read your TradingView credentials.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Capture">
    Choose **Visible Part**, **Select Area**, or **Paste from Clipboard**.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Review">
    Check the preview. A screenshot can contain account numbers, balances, messages, or other private page content.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Save">
    Create a trade with symbol, result, trader, tags, and notes, or attach the image to a recent trade.
  </Step>
</Steps>

The upload uses EdgeBook's 5 MB image limit and account storage quota. Failed linkage triggers cleanup so an unreferenced upload is not intentionally retained.

## Session and capture privacy

* The extension requests a session directly from an authenticated `app.edgebook.io` tab.
* The refresh token is used only to initialize the popup's in-memory client and is not written to extension storage.
* An unfinished keyboard or area capture is held in `chrome.storage.session`, which clears with the browser session.
* The extension does not retain the source page URL or title with the pending capture.
* Saving uploads the image and trade fields to your EdgeBook account over HTTPS.

## Supported browsers

The preview is tested for Google Chrome. Other Chromium browsers may work, but they are not part of the current release verification.
