# Extension Preview Access

> Install the private preview build supplied by EdgeBook

## Availability

<Warning>
  The EdgeBook extension is not listed publicly in the Chrome Web Store. Do not install an extension from a search result or an unofficial download.

Approved preview testers receive the extension package and version directly from the EdgeBook team. Contact [alex@edgebook.io](mailto:alex@edgebook.io) if you need access or want to verify a package.

## Install an approved preview package

  <Step title="Extract the package">
    Put the supplied extension folder in a location where it will not be moved or deleted.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Open Chrome extensions">
    Go to `chrome://extensions` and enable **Developer mode**.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Load the folder">
    Click **Load unpacked** and select the folder containing `manifest.json`.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Pin EdgeBook">
    Open Chrome's extensions menu and pin EdgeBook to the toolbar.
  </Step>

## Connect your account

1. Open [app.edgebook.io](https://app.edgebook.io) and sign in.
2. Click the EdgeBook extension.
3. Select **Sign in to EdgeBook**. The extension reads the active app session for the current popup only; it does not retain the refresh token.

Keep an authenticated EdgeBook tab open when reconnecting after a browser restart or token expiry.

## Permissions

| Permission | Use |
| - | - |
| **Active tab** | Capture the page you choose after clicking the extension or keyboard shortcut |
| **Scripting** | Draw the area-selection overlay on the active page |
| **Storage** | Hold an unfinished capture in memory for the current browser session |
| **Clipboard read** | Import an image after you choose Paste from Clipboard |
| **Downloads** | Save a capture to your computer when Download is selected |
| **app.edgebook.io** | Read the signed-in app session and notify the app after a save |
| **EdgeBook's Supabase project** | Authenticate requests and upload through EdgeBook's quota service |

The production manifest does not request access to every website. A capture can include any active page you explicitly choose, so review the preview before saving it.

## Update or remove

Preview builds do not update through the Chrome Web Store. Install only a replacement package supplied by EdgeBook. Removing the extension does not delete trades already saved to your account.
